The Paso del Norte region is located on the U.S./Mexico border and encompasses West Texas, Southern New Mexico, and northern Chihuahua, Mexico. The cities of El Paso, Texas and Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua are the center of the Paso del Norte region and together make up the world’s largest international metroplex, an ideal laboratory for social, economic and policy research. The Institute for Policy and Economic Development (IPED) is a primary research facility for economic development and policy issues on the U.S.-Mexico border, with a focus on the Paso del Norte region. The Institute provides objective analysis and interpretation of public and private policy research and collaborates with key regional partners to ensure that economic development and long-range planning proceed in a scientific and sustainable fashion.
